HOW TO SURVIVE A PANDEMIC

Participants from Turkey designed 4 projects, focusing mainly on the SDG 1, 3-4, 8, and 13-14-15.

PLOGGING IN FETHYIE

SDG 13: Climate Action

SDG 14: Life below Water

SDG 15: Life on Land

Status: IMPLEMENTED

Aleyna and Zeynep came up with the idea of creating the “Plogging in Fethyie” project in order to contribute towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goal 13, 14 and 15, focusing on raising awareness among the people in order to protect human health and ecological balance.

The project was implemented on 14th of March 2020, in Fethiye (Turkey) at the Çalış Plajı, targeting the local community.

The resources needed to implement the project were mainly trash bags and gloves for collecting the trash. The identified stakeholders that Aleyna and Zeynep agreed that might be interested in participating and supporting the project are the Cleaning Management Department at the Fethyie Municipality.

In order to tackle the issue of environmental pollution and people’s lack of time and care for sports, the participants decided to organize a series of plogging meetings promoted through a social media communication strategy (using personalized hashtags).

Through the activities implemented, the results of their pilot project were an increased awareness among the people in order to protect human health and ecological balance, an increased interest among the local community regarding environmental pollution and physical activity and an increased understanding of how joggning can be both beneficial for an inidividual’s physical condition, as well as for the environment when combined with trash picking.

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being

SDG 4 Quality Education

Status: On hold

Büşra came up with the idea of creating the “Kalbinle gülümse (Smile with your heart) ” project in order to contribute towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goal 3 and 4.

The project was initially designed to be implemented in March 2020, in Muğla (Turkey), targeting children with fewer opportunities who are at the hospitals with their physical and psychological traumas.

The resources needed to implement the project were cooking gadgets, clothes and ingredients for cooking. The identified stakeholders that Büşra agreed that might be interested in participating and supporting the project are restaurants and textile stores in the area.

In order to tackle the issue of young children’s inability to fulfill their dreams, Büşra decided to talk to the local restaurants to receive help for the necessary resources to organize an activity at the hospitals.

Through the activities implemented, the results of her pilot project would be to make the children happy by helping them with their needs and realizing their dreams.

BIR EL DEN SEN UZAT

SDG 1: Poverty

Status: IMPLEMENTED

Gökhan and Ayşe came up with the idea of creating the “Bir el de sen uzat (Give us a hand) ” project in order to contribute towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goal 1, focusing on the decrease in education level due to the poverty and the high level of poverty in rural areas.

The project was  implemented between 2nd and 12 of March 2020, in Fethyie (Turkey), targeting students from primary secondary and high school .

The resources needed to implement the project were second hand clothes from the local people and 2000 TRY.

The identified stakeholders that Gökhan and Ayşe agreed that might be interested in participating and supporting the project are local cratfsmen and the director of National Education in Fethiye.

In order to tackle the issue of education and poverty in rural areas, Gökhan and Ayşe decided to talk to craftsmen and ask for help for the clothes that people need.

Through the activities implemented, the results of their pilot project would be an increased awareness regarding poverty and local interventions for decreasing poverty and an active support system of people in need through collection of reused clothes

VIDEO MONTAGE COURSE

SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth

Status: ON HOLD

Sami came up with the idea of creating the “Video Montage Course” project in order to contribute towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goal 8, focusing on investments in technology, which has become a social language in the world, in order to open new business lines in Fethiye.

The project was initially designed to be implemented in April 2020 , in Turkey, targetting students and unemployed people.

The resources needed to implement the project were mainly computers and projectors.

The identified stakeholders that Sami agreed that might be interested in participating and supporting the project are the Faculty of Maganement and Dynamic Development Association .

In order to tackle the issue of high levels of unemployment, Sami decided to organize a course on video montage and one-to-one tutoring through good practice examples.

Through the activities implemented, the results of his pilot project would be an increased ability of the participants in doing video editing and montage and a decreased level of unemployment.
