PILOT PROJECTS

In this chapter you can read about the initial pilot projects developed by the participants from Spain, Italy, Turkey and Croatia during the “Create to transform” module of the IYELABs training program.

The Pilot Projects are a direct result of the young people’s participation in the IYELABs training program, after having analyzed their abilities and motivations to be active in their communities, as well as after having understood the challenges and problems in their cities connected to the Sustainable Development Goals. Through the process of self-discovery and local context analysis, as well as through better understanding what the Sustainable Development Goals are and the basis of project cycle management, the young people could turn their ideas into small scale projects. They were given the support into finding solutions to a local problem they identified during the “Understanding the reality” module and how to implement their solutions through the support of the planning puzzle tool and the local network.

The Pilot Projects were designed to be implemented starting from January 2020, engaging the local partners and target groups in each of the participants’ communities, emphasizing on the direct interaction between the participants and the local community. Soon after the COVID19 pandemic started to affect Italy, Spain, Turkey and Croatia, most of the projects could no longer be implemented in the way they were created due to the lockdown and social distancing. Some of them were implemented before the lockdown, some of them were readapted and some of them were placed on hold until it would be possible to be implemented the way they were designed.

 Below you can read about the initial Pilot Project ideas, in the way they were designed during the Create to Transform module. The pilot projects are divided by the countries in which the participants are from and you can see their status  (Implemented, Adapted, On hold) and which Sustainable Development Goal they are addressing.
